Violife Academy is proud to present Jason Smithson for two days of Anterior and Posterior Direct Resin Artistry.

Direct resins in the anterior and posterior dentition have become a common day-to-day treatment modality, and can produce functional, long lasting and highly aesthetic restorations. The philosophy of the course is to introduce a more simple technique, which results in a highly aesthetic restoration, which is easy to place, with instruments common to all dental offices, using minimal shades of composite resin. The program is extremely practical, user friendly and offers intensive hands-on practice.

DAY 1: POSTERIOR

Hands On: Class 1 and Class 2

DAY2: ANTERIOR

Hands-On: Direct Resin Veneer

What You Will Learn

  • Case assessment, time allocation and setting fees. Reduce your stress and get paid for what you are worth.
  • Shade Selection: De-mystifying the science and use it as a practical day to day tool.
  • A simple, rapid, yet novel concept to make incisal edge shade and anatomy obvious and effortless.
  • How to harness anatomy to create optical illusions which result in restorations which are invisible to the human eye.
  • Preparation design and instrumentation.
  • How to produce a rapid, inexpensive indirect mock up and silicone index to precisely determine lingual contours and incisal edge position.
  • How to handle class 4s, direct resin veneers, discoloured teeth and diastema closure: all illustrated with step by step clinical cases in a “cookbook” approach.
  • How to layer resin to achieve lifelike incisal halos and effects such as crack lines and opacities.
  • A simple, effective finishing protocol to allow composite resin to mimic natural enamel.
  • To understand the potential failure modalities of direct posterior resin restorations
  • To understand the Occlusal Compass: a simple technique to reduce occlusal adjustment
  • To understand the importance of sectional matrices in the class 2 situation
  • To effectively place a class 1 restoration with anatomically correct occlusal morphology
  • To effectively place a class 2 restoration which requires little or no rotary finishing
